Day 5: Living From the Vine
Devotional
There is a big difference between living for God and living from God. One is exhausting. The other is life-giving. Jesus said in John 15 that apart from Him, we can do nothing. But with Him, all things are possible. That is not a contradiction. It is an invitation. He is not asking you to try harder. He is asking you to stay connected. The branch does not strain to produce fruit. It simply remains in the vine, and fruit is the natural result. In the same way, when you live from your union with Christ, His strength becomes your strength. His nature flows through you. You stop white-knuckling your way through life and start drawing from the limitless resource that is already inside you. This is the life God has always intended for you. Not a life of constant striving, but a life of deep dependence on the One who is already one with you. Every spiritual blessing is yours. His righteousness, His power, His peace. Not because you earned it, but because you are in Him. You have been living connected to the greatest source of life in the universe. Start drawing from it. Abide in Him today, and watch what begins to grow.
Bible Verse
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." - John 15:4-5 (New King James Version (NKJV))
Reflection Question
Are you currently living for God through your own effort, or are you living from your union with Him? What would it look like to shift from striving to abiding?
Quote
"It's not about my strength. It's not about my ability, not about my capability. It's about His. I'm connected to him, everything he has, I have his nature, his purpose, his righteousness, his glory, his power."Pastor John Pool
Prayer
Lord, teach me what it means to truly abide in You. I do not want to live on my own strength anymore. Help me draw from everything You have already placed within me. Amen.
