Day 2: You Are God's Temple
Devotional
Your body isn't just flesh and bones—it's the dwelling place of the Most High God. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he wasn't speaking metaphorically. You are literally a temple where God's Spirit lives and operates. This truth should revolutionize how you see yourself and how you live each day. Yet many of us live as if the Holy Spirit is tucked away in some small corner of our hearts, barely noticeable in our daily routines. We try to muscle through life on our own strength, forgetting that we carry within us the same power that spoke the universe into existence. The word 'dwells' means to be fixed and operative in your soul—not dormant, not inactive, but alive and working. This means every conversation you have, every decision you make, every challenge you face can be infused with divine wisdom and strength. You don't have to wait until you get to church to experience God's presence. You don't need a special building or perfect circumstances. You are the temple. God's presence is with you in your kitchen, your workplace, your car, and your bedroom. The question is: are you living like the temple you are?
Bible Verse
'Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?' - 1 Corinthians 3:16 (New King James Version)
Reflection Question
How would your daily routine change if you consistently remembered that your body is God's temple?
Quote
Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Dwells. The word dwells in this context means to be fixed and operative in one's soul. - Kathy Pool
Prayer
Father, help me to honor You in my body, knowing that I am Your temple. May Your presence flow through every aspect of my life today. In Jesus name amen!
