Jesus Is The Answer - Day 3

Day 3: The Daily Battle

Devotional

Even as believers, we face an ongoing reality that can be both humbling and encouraging: the battle between flesh and spirit. You're not crazy for still struggling with temptation after accepting Christ. You're not a failure for having days when following Jesus feels difficult. This internal conflict is normal and expected in the Christian life. The good news is that we don't fight this battle in our own strength. We have been completely freed from sin's power and consequences, but we still need daily grace for the process of sanctification. This isn't about trying harder or being more disciplined - it's about surrendering more fully to the One who has already won the victory. Every day, we get to choose: will we walk in the flesh or in the Spirit? The battle is real, but so is the power available to us through Christ. You don't have to be perfect; you just need to be surrendered.

Bible Verse
'I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.' - Galatians 5:16-17 (NKJV)

Reflection Question

In what specific areas of your life do you need to stop trying harder in your own strength and instead surrender more fully to the Spirit's power?

Quote
I think our greatest need is the battle or strength that we need for the battle that we face between flesh and the Spirit. - Pastor John Pool

Prayer
Lord, thank You that the battle between flesh and spirit doesn't mean I'm failing. Help me walk in Your Spirit today and surrender the areas where I've been trying to fight in my own strength. In Jesus name amen.
