Day 4: When God's Word Makes a Home in You
Devotional
There's a profound difference between visiting truth and living in it. Many Christians treat God's Word like a vacation destination—they visit it occasionally, get refreshed, then return to their old ways of thinking. But transformation happens when Scripture makes a home in your heart and mind. When God's Word dwells in you, lies can't get comfortable anymore. Your renewed mind begins to align with God's perspective. Fear loses its grip because you're focused on God rather than negative imagination. Shame loses its power because you stop rehearsing what Christ has already redeemed. The Word of God has inherent power to change you from the inside out. It's not about reading more verses or memorizing more Scripture—it's about allowing what you read to penetrate your thinking and reshape your perspective. When this happens, purity stops looking like punishment and starts looking like freedom.
Bible Verse
'Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.' - Colossians 3:16 (New King James Version)
Reflection Question
How can you move from occasionally visiting God's truth to allowing His Word to make a permanent home in your thinking?
Quote
"When the word dwells in you, makes a home in you, lies can't dwell in you comfortably anymore. The renewed mind is a mind that has begun to come into alignment with God in step with God." Pastor Pool
Prayer
Lord, let Your Word dwell richly in me. Transform my thinking so that lies can no longer find a comfortable place in my mind.
In Jesus name amen!
