Faith That Moves Mountain's Pt 6 - Day 4

Day 4: Fully Convinced

Devotional

Abraham did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief. He was strengthened in faith and became fully convinced that what God had promised, He was able to perform. He took his eyes off the problem and put them on the promise.

That doesn't mean Abraham was perfect. He and Sarah tried to make the promise happen their own way. In Egypt, he was so afraid that he told Sarah to say she was his sister. The people we admire in Scripture were not people who had it all together. They were people who came back to trusting God.

Most of us are wrestling with the same decision: is God true or not? We say He is. But then money runs short, or a health issue comes up, or a marriage is struggling, and we ask, what am I going to do now? The answer is to believe God. Not in a flippant way, but by getting hold of His Word and knowing His character.

Think about how easily we fixate on a problem. We lie awake at midnight, then two, then four, turning it over and over. Now imagine shifting that same focus onto the Word of God.

Trusting God is a decision. It may be one you have to make 500 times today. But if you make it today, tomorrow it may be 499. Eventually it becomes second nature.

Bible Verse

"He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform." - Romans 4:20-21 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question

What problem have you been meditating on more than God's promises? What Scripture could you put in its place this week?

Quote

"It's a decision. And admittedly, it's a decision you have to make about 500 times a day." - Pastor John Pool

Prayer

Lord, I choose to trust You today, and I'll choose it again as many times as I need to. Make me fully convinced that what You have promised, You are able to perform. Amen.
