He's In You - Day 3

Day 3: Stir Up What's Already There

Devotional
God has already given you everything you need for spiritual victory, but He won't do the stirring for you. Paul's instruction to Timothy reveals a crucial truth: we have a responsibility to activate what God has placed within us. The Holy Spirit isn't automatically flowing through your life just because He lives in you. Think of it like having a fireplace in your home—the wood and matches are there, but you have to strike the match and tend the fire. Too many believers sit passively, waiting for God to do something He's already told them to do. We make excuses about our sinful nature or claim we have no control, but this cheapens the gospel and devalues Jesus' sacrifice. Christ paid a terrible price so you would have the authority to take dominion over sin and put down your sinful nature. The gift is there. The power is there. The Spirit is there. But you must choose to stir it up through prayer, Bible study, worship, and stepping out in faith. God won't stir what He told you to stir. Just like Noah had to build the boat even though God equipped him, you have to take action to activate what's already been given to you.

Bible Verse
'Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.' - 2 Timothy 1:6 (New King James Version)

Reflection Question
What specific steps will you take this week to 'stir up' the gifts God has placed within you?

Quote
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you. He didn't say, hey, Timothy, I'm going to be there in a couple months and I'm going to stir that gift in you. No, he said, Timothy, you stir it up. - Kathy Pool

Prayer
Lord, forgive me for being passive about the gifts You've given me. Give me the courage and discipline to actively stir up what You've placed within me. In Jesus name amen!
