From Striving To Abiding - Day 1

Day 1: You Were Made for More Than Trying Harder

Devotional
Have you ever felt like you were doing everything right but still coming up short? You pray, you show up, you try. And yet something still feels off. You are not alone, and more importantly, you are not failing. Many believers carry a quiet frustration because they are working hard for God when He is actually inviting them into something different. Jesus, in John 15, paints a picture that should stop us in our tracks. He describes a vine and its branches. A branch does not grunt and strain to grow fruit. It simply stays attached. The life of the vine does the work. That is the picture Jesus is drawing for you and me. Here is the good news: God is not standing at the finish line waiting to see how hard you pushed. He is the source. He is the vine. And He is inviting you to stop straining and start staying connected. This week, we are going to explore what it means to truly abide in Christ. Not just believe in Him from a distance, but actually live from Him, draw from Him, and let His life flow through yours. It is a way of life that changes everything, and it starts today.

Bible Verse
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." - Galatians 2:20 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question
In what areas of your life are you straining in your own strength rather than drawing from Christ?

Quote
"The answer is not that we have to try harder. The answer is to abide in Him."

Prayer
Lord, I confess that I have been trying to do in my own strength what only You can do through me. Teach me this week what it truly means to abide in You. Amen.
