Day 3: The Fruit Grows Itself
Devotional
Here is something that might surprise you: God is not primarily asking you to produce fruit. He is asking you to stay connected to the One who produces it through you. A branch does not hold a strategy meeting about how to grow apples. It does not set goals or push through exhaustion to make something happen. It simply stays attached to the tree, and the life of the tree does what only the tree can do. This is one of the most freeing truths in all of Scripture. Holiness, patience, love, peace, and every other fruit of the Spirit are not things you manufacture. They are things that grow naturally when you are genuinely connected to Christ. You may have spent years feeling guilty that you are not more patient, more generous, or more consistent. But guilt alone never changed anyone. Connection does. When His life is flowing through yours, transformation happens from the inside out. This does not mean you are passive. Staying connected takes intentionality. It means feeding on His Word, talking to Him honestly, and choosing to depend on Him rather than defaulting to your own instincts. But the pressure to perform? You can let that go. The fruit is His job. Your job is to stay.
Bible Verse
"Let each one sow for himself, and he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." - Galatians 6:7-8 (New King James Version (NKJV))
Reflection Question
Is there an area of your life where you have been trying to force growth rather than trusting God to produce it through your connection to Him?
Quote
"A branch does not struggle to grow apples. It simply stays connected to the tree, and the life of the tree produces the fruit naturally."
Prayer
Father, thank You that I do not have to manufacture what only You can grow. Help me to stay connected to You and trust that Your life in me will produce what I cannot produce on my own. Amen.
