Day 2: Making Your Home in Him
Devotional
Home is a powerful word. It is where you belong, where you rest, where you are fully yourself. Now imagine Jesus saying to you, "Make your home in Me." That is exactly what He is saying. In John 15, Jesus uses the word abide nine times in just eight verses. He is not being repetitive for the sake of it. He is making sure we do not miss it. The Greek word for abide is meno, and it means to remain, to dwell, to stay, to make your home there. This is not a casual invitation. Jesus is not asking to be a helpful resource you check in with when life gets hard. He wants to be your dwelling place. The place you live from, not just visit. Think about the difference between visiting a place and actually living there. When you live somewhere, it shapes your rhythms, your habits, your perspective. That is what Jesus is after. He wants His life, His peace, and His strength to become the very atmosphere you breathe every single day. You do not have to earn your way into this. You are already invited. The question is whether you will settle in and stay.
Bible Verse
"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving." - Colossians 2:6-7 (New King James Version (NKJV))
Reflection Question
What would it look like practically for your daily life to be rooted in Christ rather than just occasionally connected to Him?
Quote
"The Greek word translated abide is the Greek word meno. And what it literally means is to remain, to continue to dwell, to stay, to make your home there."
Prayer
Jesus, I want You to be more than someone I visit in hard moments. Help me to make my home in You and to live every day from that place of connection. Amen.
