You Matter To Him - Day 3

Day 3: Let Go of What Was Never Yours to Carry

Devotional
Most of us know we should give our burdens to God. The harder part is actually doing it. We hold on. We rehearse the problem. We try to figure it out on our own. And somewhere in the middle of all that effort, we forget that we were never meant to carry it in the first place. First Peter 5:6-7 uses a word for casting that carries real force. It is not a gentle setting down. It is a deliberate, intentional throw. That kind of release requires trust. It requires believing that the One you are throwing it to is actually able to hold it. God is not asking you to pretend the burden does not exist. He is asking you to stop treating it as yours alone. He wants to be involved. He wants you to bring it to Him, not because He needs the information, but because He wants the relationship. What you are carrying right now, whether it is a heavy crisis or a low-grade frustration, was designed to drive you toward Him, not away from Him. The weight you feel is an invitation. You do not have to have it all figured out before you come to Him. Come as you are, with exactly what you are holding, and let Him take it.

Bible Verse
"Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:6-7 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question
What is making it difficult for you to fully release your burdens to God, and what would it look like to trust Him with that today?

Quote
"God is saying, bring that to me. Let me be involved in this. Don't carry those troubles by yourself."

Prayer
God, I confess that I hold on when I should let go. Teach me to cast my burdens on You with confidence, trusting that You are more than able to carry what I cannot. Amen.
