The Hidden Power Of Unbelief - Day 5

Day 5: Speak the Word

Devotional
So how do we deal with unbelief? It starts by reconnecting with the Word of God. Hearing it read on Sunday isn't enough. We need a steady diet of it.

There is power in God's Word spoken out loud. When the enemy came to tempt Jesus, He answered every time with "It is written." We can do the same. When doubt and unbelief come at you, speak God's Word back to them, and if you have to say it a thousand times, say it a thousand times.

Read the Bible out loud. If that is hard, use an app that reads it to you and read along. Keep drawing closer to God, because as we draw near to Him, He draws near to us.

And when you feel yourself sinking, cry out. Peter stepped out of the boat because Jesus said one word: come. When he took his eyes off Jesus, he began to sink, but Jesus caught him. Peter's wavering faith did not put him beyond the reach of Jesus, and yours won't either.

It isn't rocket science. It is a decision. Get in the Word, speak it, and keep crying out to Jesus. That is how faith grows.

Bible Verse
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question
What is one practical change you can make this week to put God's Word in front of you, and in your mouth, every day?

Quote
"So when doubt and unbelief come at you, speak back to it. Speak the word of God."

Prayer
Lord, I want Your Word to be my steady diet. When doubt comes, put Your Word in my mouth. And when I start to sink, thank You that You are always there to catch me. Amen.
