Faith That Moves Mountain's Pt 2 - Day - 3

Day 3: The Foundation Beneath Your Feet

Devotional

Hope can be a tricky word. In everyday conversation, it often means something like wishing things would work out. But biblical hope is something far more solid than that. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as the substance of things hoped for. The word translated as substance comes from the Greek word hypostasis, which means the underlying reality, the foundation beneath everything else. Faith is not a feeling. It is a foundation. It is the bedrock reality of what you are trusting God for, even before you can see it. And here is the most important part. Jesus is that foundation. He is the underlying reality of everything you are hoping for. Your hope is not resting on a feeling, a circumstance, or a best-case scenario. It is resting on Him, and He does not shift. This means that even when the evidence around you seems to contradict what you are believing for, the foundation has not moved. What you see with your eyes is not the deepest reality. Faith is. And faith is anchored to a Person who is completely trustworthy. Whatever you are hoping for today, you are not hoping into thin air. You are hoping into Him.

Bible Verse

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question

How does understanding faith as a foundation rather than a feeling change the way you hold on to hope in a difficult situation?

Quote
"Faith is the foundation. It is the reality, the underlying reality of what you are hoping for."

Prayer
Jesus, You are the foundation of everything I hope for. When my feelings waver, remind me that my hope is anchored in You, not in what I can see. Amen.
