The Hidden Power Of Unbelief - Day 4

Day 4: Help My Unbelief

Devotional
There is a difference between someone who is struggling to believe and someone who has settled into unbelief. If we are not careful, we can end up with more confidence in our doubts than in God, sure that nothing is going to change.

A father once brought his son to Jesus and said, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" Jesus didn't put him down or condemn him. He helped him. That man brought his struggle to Jesus, and that is exactly where we need to bring ours.

Our relationship with God works a lot like a muscle. When we don't exercise it, it weakens. Not because God hasn't provided what we need, but because the muscle has gone unused. Nobody gets off the couch and runs a marathon the next morning.

When we try to step out in faith and stumble, the enemy is quick to whisper that God tripped us. He didn't. God is glad you got out of the chair. Tomorrow you take one more step, and the next day one more, and over time your faith grows stronger.

You don't have to pretend you have no struggle. Be honest with God about it, and keep showing up. That is how trust gets built.

Bible Verse
"Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" - Mark 9:24 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question
Where do you need to stop hiding your struggle and simply pray, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief"?

Quote
"God's not sticking His foot out. God is glad you got out of the chair."

Prayer
Jesus, I believe; help my unbelief. Thank You that You don't condemn me for struggling. Strengthen my trust in You one step at a time. Amen.
