Hungering For The God Of Revival - Day 2

Day 2: What You Are Really Hungry For

Devotional

There is a difference between hungering for what God can give you and hungering for God Himself. It is a subtle distinction, but it changes everything. It is possible to pray consistently, attend every service, and still be chasing blessings, breakthroughs, or emotional experiences rather than the One who gives them. God is not against blessing you. But He wants your heart, not just your requests. David understood this. In Psalm 63, he was in a dry and barren wilderness, and yet his cry was not for rescue or relief. It was for God. He wrote that his soul thirsted for God, that His flesh longed for Him. The wilderness did not destroy his hunger. It revealed it. That kind of hunger is rare, and it is beautiful. It is the kind of hunger that says, "I do not just want what Your hand can provide. I want You." When you begin to pray that way, something shifts. Your priorities change. Your prayers deepen. And you start to discover that pursuing God is not a discipline. It is a delight. You were made for more than blessings. You were made for Him.

Bible Verse
"O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water." - Psalm 63:1 (New King James Version (NKJV))

Reflection Question
If you are honest with yourself, are you hungering for God or for what God can do for you, and what does that reveal about where your heart is right now?

Quote
"Church revival, whether it’s in a church or whether it’s in an individual, comes when we hunger for God and not His blessing.” Pastor John Pool

Prayer
God, I confess that I have often sought Your hand more than Your face. Teach me to hunger for You above every blessing, every breakthrough, and every gift You could give. Amen.
